Sheffield City Archives collects and preserves archive documents and printed material relating to Sheffield and the surrounding area.

The information dates from the 12th century to the present day and relates to Sheffield, South Yorkshire and parts of north Derbyshire.

Included are extensive collections of manuscripts ● books ● pamphlets ● photographs ● newspapers ● minutes ● diaries ● films and videos ● maps ● deeds ● oral history recordings, etc.

Our collections come from ● local government and other public sector bodies ● schools ● hospitals ● businesses ● charities ● faith groups ● the voluntary sector ● individuals ● former nationalised industries such as coal and water ● courts, etc.

Most of our archives are freely available to researchers.
